Impressions of Ghent

Stepping Out of the Shadows

Eclipsed by the attention Belgian city Antwerp is currently receiving, Ghent (less than an hours train ride away) has its own distinct personality and highlights. On a recent work trip to the area, we couldn’t resist spending a weekend in the fairytale-esque medieval city, exploring the many fresh culinary, cultural and design-oriented offerings it had in store.

Here are some random impressions of Ghent – make sure not to miss the following addresses: stay at and shop handpicked goods at Atelier Ecru, shop gorgeous books at Copyright, sip cocktails at The Cobbler, eat at Bodo (lunch) and De Superette (dinner). The design showroom Vive Ma Maison in Sint-Martins-Latem makes for a good excursion if you’d like to explore recent work by the hot Flemish design scene.
