Hasami Porcelain

With its clean lines, tactile finish and stackable geometric design, Hasami Porcelain epitomises the ultimate everyday tableware. Designed by Takuhiro Shinomoto of LA-based design store Tortoise, the line of products merges the functions and aesthetics we look for in modern tableware with an age-old traditional manufacturing process only found in Japan.

As the name implies, Hasami Porcelain stems from the small Japanese town of Hasami, where craftsmen have been creating this particular type of porcelain-meets-ceramics ware for almost 400 years, dating back to the Edo period. It sets Hasami Porcelain apart from other mass-produced, factory-made tableware, and is the reason why each piece presents slight variations in colours and textures.
