Description

In Sweden, coffee has long been more than a drink – it’s ritual, folklore and survival. In Drift, the bi-annual magazine dedicated to coffee culture worldwide, we explored how Stockholm’s baristas and chefs are reviving three forgotten traditions: kaffekask, coffee spiked with liquor; kaffeost, the northern custom of dropping cubes of squeaky cheese into the cup; and maskroskaffe, dandelion-root ‘coffee’ first brewed during wartime rationing.

Our feature pulled these stories out of obscurity and onto the table, blending history, folklore and contemporary café culture with evocative photography and styling.
